Android users, if I were to ask you which app genre do you find most abundant in the Google Play Store, a lot of your answers would match when it comes to Twitter third-party clients. They’re actually flooding the Play Store these days, and despite the 100,000 token limit that Twitter has imposed upon third-party apps, they continue to thrive with people utilizing the different experience that such apps bring to the fullest.
Sometimes modern technology amazes us. The things we can do today are the kinds of things that we could only dream about ten years ago, which makes us wonder what we'll be doing in ten years from now. If Google has its way, we could be putting contact lenses in our eyes that monitor our blood sugar, and if that doesn't get your techy heart racing, there's something not quite right!
We may be waiting for Samsung to share its vision for the Galaxy S5, but that isn't stopping people from coming up with their own concepts of what the next big thing from the company will be like. The latest concept comes from Rozetked, with the idea being that the new handset would be some sort of amalgamation between an iPhone 5s and whatever Samsung has up its sleeve for the next Galaxy phone.
Apple looks to be ramping up its OS X 10.9 Mavericks fixing schedule, with OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 now in its second beta phase after the company made a new version available for developers to download for testing.
There's been a ton of innovative and exciting mobile and desktop apps and tools that have managed to attract a lot of initial attention before falling into obscurity. Remember Knock? The app that allows you to unlock your Mac without inputting a password? Sure, it still has a fair amount of satisfied users, but the hype around it seems to have quickly dissipated into nothing. The same affliction doesn't seem to be applied in equal measures to tweaks that are released into the jailbreak world, with hype already starting to build for BioUnlock, a tweak that hooks into the iPhone 5s Touch ID sensor to essentially offer the same functionality as Knock.
Love them or loathe them, you cannot escape Internet memes. They're everywhere, and this is sue in no small part to sites like Imgur. The image hosting service has sought to turn itself from a simple storage hub to the YouTube of viral images, and has, to some degree, succeeded thus far. The Imgur iOS app has been around for a while now, allowing mobile users to continue browsing, posting, rating and commenting on their favorite images and memes, and now, the meme generation facility has just arrived for iOS. Download link and more details can be found right here.
If Android is your mobile OS of choice then it's highly likely that CyanogenMod has been on your radar for quite some time. The aftermarket firmware solution allows users to flash their Android powered devices to introduce features and offerings that aren't included in official builds of the open-source software.
When Apple announced iOS 7 last year it made a big fuss out of the considerable changes that the new version would bring to our iPhones,iPads and iPod touches. A whole new interface, a redesigned Camera app and more were touted as some of the biggest changes, with countless others thrown in for good measure. Over the months since and as the release day drew closer, some features fell by the wayside and others were introduced. In September, iOS 7 was released.
Jailbreaking is often all about skinning iOS, making things look the way people want them to and giving tweakers the power to alter just about any aspect of the interface, no matter how big or small. But there's so much more in jailbreaking, with some of the best reasons to go through the process being some of the tweaks that add functionality that Apple would probably never sanction.
Being the raging tech fans that we are, particularly when it comes to new and exciting gadgetry, it should come as very little surprise that talk has already progressed with regards to the next iPhone. Depending on what's being said and who's saying it, Apple could be planning another two-pronged assault on the smartphone market, and although the iPhone 5c and 5s represented the first dual release since the iPhone's inception, it's fair to say that we could be in for a couple of even more exciting treats this time around. We spoke earlier of the possibility of a 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch model, and although the report was based on some loose estimations, once concept maker has already come through with some intriguing renders of a 4.7-inch iPhone 6. Check it out in all of its glory after the break!
