iPhone 17 Pro Max Gets Thicker, While iPhone 17 Air Goes Ultra-Thin

The iPhone 17 Pro Max will be thicker than ever, while a brand-new model, the iPhone 17 Air, will go in the opposite direction, aiming to be the thinnest iPhone ever.

All this, according to a new leak from Ice Universe, a well-known source for Apple rumors.

If you thought Apple was making iPhones thinner, think again! The iPhone 17 Pro Max will reportedly be 8.725mm thick, making it the thickest iPhone since the iPhone 4S.

That’s even thicker than the 8.25mm iPhone 16 Pro Max. Why the extra bulk? The rumor suggests Apple is packing in a bigger battery, though that doesn’t necessarily mean longer battery life. More power-hungry features could eat up the extra capacity.

On the flip side, Apple is also introducing a super-thin iPhone 17 Air. At just 5.5mm thick, it will set a new record for iPhone slimness. But there’s a catch; this model will only have one rear camera, sacrificing features for an ultra-sleek design.

Both models will reportedly have 6.9-inch displays, but some sources claim the iPhone 17 Air will actually have a 6.55-inch screen instead.
