MSI Makes Fun Of Apple’s $1000 Pro Display XDR’s Pro Stand

The newly announced Mac Pro is a monster of a machine, and the accompanying Pro Display XDR is arguably the best monitor around especially at its price point.

That price point is a high one, of that there’s no doubt, and the Pro Stand that must be purchased separately doesn’t help matters by costing an additional $999.

The cost of that stand has understandably caused quite a fuss online, with many wondering why Apple sees the need to charge such a huge amount of money for an admittedly impressive chunk of metal.

We think Apple would have been better bundling the stand with the display itself and increasing the overall price, allowing people to remove it with a saving at checkout. Regardless, it’s led to much discussion and PC maker MSI has taken to Twitter to poke fun.

MSI has today shared a new ad on Twitter for its 5K Prestige Monitor which itself isn’t yet available. When it is, it’ll cost $1,299 which isn’t much more than Apple’s stand. MSI is keen to point out the differences between the Pro Stand and an actual monitor, something that we’re sure its marketing department was very pleased with when they came up with it.

The whole ad is decidedly disingenuous considering the fact the MSI Prestige monitor can’t compete with the Pro Display XDR itself. However, Apple did open itself to such mocking when it decided to sell the Pro Stand separately, so maybe it’s fair game.
