Google continues to work to make Google Meet meetings easier than ever to join, this time adding a new tab to the Gmail app on both iPhone and Android; and it’s a pretty huge tab at that. If you were concerned about missing it, fear not.

Thankfully you can turn it off if you want, but you need to venture into the Settings of your Gmail app to do so.

Google decided to make Meet available to all from this past April and the move into the Gmail app is likely just the start.

Users will now be able to tap links inside Gmail and have Meet meetings automatically launch. If you aren’t seeing the option yet, hang fire. It’s going to take a few weeks while Google rolls it out to everyone based on their account.

Online meetings are obviously more important than ever right now with many people continuing to work from home even as the worldwide coronavirus lockdowns begin to ease.

Having Meet built into the email app that many people use will definitely not harm adoption, although Meet will have some way to go before it captures the minds of users in the same way runaway success Zoom as done. Despite its less than stellar security record.
