Google Announces Pixel 6 Event For October 19

Google has announced that it will hold a virtual event on October 19th at 1PM ET / 10AM PT. The event will play host to the big unveiling of the upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, the company also confirmed.

While Google itself has already confirmed that the two devices exist, even allowing press to check them out in person, this will be the official unveiling for the new devices.

On October 19, we’re officially introducing you to Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro—the completely reimagined Google phones. Powered by Tensor, Google’s first custom mobile chip, they’re fast, smart and secure. And they adapt to you. #Pixel6Launch

The new devices will be announced a month after Apple’s own iPhone 13 lineup was unveiled and it will be very interesting to see what the new devices have to offer.

The Pixel 6 Pro in particular looks like it could be an excellent phone, while the Pixel 6’s Tensor processor could see Apple’s A-series chips finally receive some much-needed competition.

Google hasn’t yet confirmed exactly when Android 12 will be made available either, so it’s possible that will be tied into the October 19 event as well. Keep your eyes peeled over the next couple of weeks for more details as they leak — as has been the case in previous years.
