DJI Action 2 Camera Announced With Modular Magnetic Accessories

DJI has announced a new action camera in the form of the new Action 2 — the spiritual successor to the popular Osmo Action camera.

The new camera ditches the Osmo branding and instead focuses on a modular construction that allows for additional features to be brought to bear.

The camera itself is small at just 39mm square and 22mm deep, but that still makes space for a 12MP camera and 4K recording.

That lens gives users a 155-degree field of view and around the back they’ll find a 1.76-inch OLED touchscreen. Storage comes in the form of a 32GB built-in solution while more can be added via microSD.

That modular design means that people can add more batteries or a second screen when needed, while a magnetic ball-mount adapter for tripod use is also on offer. Those who like to go skiing and whatnot will also enjoy the idea of a headband that can be used to strap the whole thing to their head.

In terms of pricing, the $399 bundle includes the camera, a power module, a mount, and a lanyard. Further bundle options are on the table including a $519 package that offers an additional screen.

All of this will ship soon, with the dual-screen bundle shopping on November 2nd. Other bundles will need to wait for mid-November, as will additional accessory buyers.
