If you ever wondered why your memory seems to be getting worse, then according to one South Korean doctor the reason may just be that smartphone you're so attached to.
Apple's iPhone announcements tend to follow a very specific script, and with September 10th the confirmed date for the official unveiling of the two new handsets in store, we're likely to see the familiar sequence of events. Tim Cook will make the announcement, before Phil Schiller and others begin reeling off a bunch of reasons why the newer model "changes everything, again." To mark the occasion, a new parody video is doing the rounds, and pokes a little fun at the Cupertino company for its archetypal ways. Check it out after the break!
We all spend so much time online these days that we've got accounts and online presences all over the place. Whether it be a Dropbox or iCloud account, a RunKeeper account or a place to call our own on Twitter or Facebook, the number of websites where we have a username and a password is quite a scary thought when you sit down and ponder it.
Recently, research firm Gartner brought us the news that we have all been expecting for quite some time - that smartphone sales are now exceeding the sales of standard so-called "feature" phones. The April-June period of this year represented the first time that this has been the case, and although it was something that was inevitably going to happen, it does go a long way to actually showing our increasing reliance on the smartphones that we all carry around with us. The I Forgot My Phone video - courtesy of Charlene deGuzman - also manages to paint a pretty powerful picture of how smartphone technology has managed to become infused in our everyday existence.
Oh Nokia, you're so funny. You might not be able to sell smartphones to many people, but you sure know how to make an ad that has us giggling behind our non-Nokia branded devices.
iPhone Users Are Younger, Wealthier and Generally Smarter Than Samsung Smartphone Users, Study Finds
Samsung and Apple are undoubtedly the two biggest names in the mobile industry, and as the companies continue to go at each other's throats in a myriad of patent disputes, it's fair to say that fans of both companies can be just as forthright in debate over which of the big two produces the best devices. In a finding that is bound to cause more than a little controversy, a study has discovered that iPhone owners tend to be younger, wealthier, and - get this - smarter than their Samsung-wielding buddies.
Ah, the iWatch. A product long since mentioned in forums across the Web, but even after years of such speculation, yet to show its digitized face to the masses. There's a feeling, though, that the current spate of rumors are based upon more than just thin air, and that actually, Apple is preparing some sort of smart watch product for release at some point in the near future. With suggestions that the Cupertino has over 100 members of staff dedicated to the task, that would seem evidence enough for us all to get a little bit excited, and to offer us an idea of what kind of end-product this could eventually entail, designer Stephen Olmstead has come through with a rather nice set of concepts.
Latest iPhone 5C Mockups Reveal iPod touch-like Packaging And Unofficial Announcement Shots [IMAGES]
With less than a month to go until the purported announcement of the next-gen iPhone, Apple fans far and wide are gearing themselves up for what is undoubtedly the key date in their annual tech calendars. Unlike previous years, however, it looks almost certain that Tim Cook's men will also introduce a cheaper, "iPhone 5C" to the fold, a device that will attempt to help increase market share in the West while also establishing a consumer base in developing areas such as India and China. Designer and developer Martin Hajek is certainly a well-recognized member of the Cupertino's sparse following, and amid the anticipation of the iPhone(s), has created some mock-ups not only of the packaging, but also the announcement itself.
With Apple currently in the process of developing a bunch of new software products ready for release later on this year, the technology industry has been looking on with great intrigue. iOS 7 has, quite naturally, dominated the headlines, but OS X Mavericks 10.9 is also clocking up its fair share of preview releases ahead of its own debut, which should come significantly earlier than its mobile-tailored counterpart. In recent times, we've seen Apple bring quite a few of iOS's features over to its desktop OS in what has been dubbed an "iOS-ification," and whilst the changes to Mavericks don't seem to bear as many iOS hallmarks as Mountain Lion, designer Stu Crew has tried to paint a picture of what OS X Mavericks could look like if given the same design makeover as iOS 7.
Enjoying video games was once something we actually had to factor into our lives. Sitting down in the lounge, firing up our consoles and switching on our televisions before sitting through cumbersome loading times before we could finally enjoy a bit of Tekken, Lemmings or Super Mario. But in today's world of the App Store and Google Play, gaming can be done pretty much anywhere, and despite this new-found freedom to play at any moment, an infographic compiled by Talk Mobile reveals that we actually like to play in the bathroom.
