According to the reliable sources at AppleInsider, folks in Cupertino are preparing to finally bring multitasking support in the next version 4.0 of iPhone OS. If this rumor holds up to be true, then Apple can finally silence all the iPhone critiques who have been praising the rival Google’s Android for its superiority in multitasking support; something which iPhone has lacked since day 1 with the original iPhone (EDGE) launch back in 2007.
9to5Mac is reporting that a couple of new gestures have been uncovered in the the iPhone SDK 3.2 Beta 4. There seems to be a triple tap gesture and a long press gesture revealed. In the gestures folder, a couple of new plist files have been discovered: "3Tap.plist" and "LongPress.plist".
Capcom's much anticipated iPhone port of Street Fighter IV was just released last night. This classic franchise is perfect for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Many have been on the edge of their seats, since it was announced.
Apple has just rolled out another update to iPhone OS 3.2 SDK for iPad. This Beta 4 of iPhone OS 3.2 SDK for iPad brings new API improvements and bug fixes to make sure it is all set before Apple officially releases the final firmware in shipping device come this April.
Another batch of iPhone apps are, apparently, about to get the axe. Reports are popping up around the net, that "cookie cutter" type apps are starting to be pulled from the App Store. This would include RSS apps, and photo gallery type apps. Any app that just packages an online service, and doesn't offer any other functionality.
Developer Hooked In Motion has recently released version 2.0 of "iCollect Movies" for iPhone and iPod touch. This app allows you to scan the barcode of your movies with your iPhone's camera. It then queries it's database and automatically adds the title to a easy to read catalog, including information like genre, rating, run time, and much more.
A new tweak has been released in Cydia, called "Fake About Screen". It allows you to set whatever firmware, capacity, serial number, etc, that you want, making your jailbroken iPhone and iPod touch look like a future version of the Apple device.
A new theme for iPhone has been released, that mimics the look of the yet to be released Windows Phone 7 Series devices. This theme, created by yours truly, is a free download from Cydia, and is available right now for jailbroken iPhone and iPod touch! You can find it under the ModMyi repository.
Chpwn, creator of InfiniDock, and ProSwitcher, will release his newest mod for the jailbroken iPhone and iPod Touch today! It is called "InfiniBoard", and gives your iPhone's springboard the ability of vertical scrolling. As you can see in this screen shot, there are icons behind the dock. Not sure how many rows we will get, but this mod will give so much more room on your Springboards.
The updated O2 UK iPhone plans has added “video calls” in their list of “Key Features”, hence strongly suggesting that the next-gen iPhone will support video conferencing of some sort come this June. The said option can be seen in the screenshot below, or on the O2 UK site here.
