There seems to be a real glut of paid-for apps going free of late, and that's no bad thing as far as we're concerned. Here we have a range of new titles to add to that list, and some are great examples of titles that are normally a bargain even at their usual price. Make them free, and they really are apps that you should be trying out.
The touch-based environment has risen to prominence over the past few years, with many skeptics and naysayers having been won over in the process. As well as the increase in the number of smartphones, tablets and other touch-enabled gadgets sold every year, we've also seen efforts to bring gestures to our regular computers and notebooks. Some have focused on air gestures, allowing users to swipe using simple hand signals, while others, like the $75 offering seen below, have sought to turn everyday surfaces into touch panels.
To get one untethered jailbreak per major iOS release is a blessing in itself, but even though the job of the jailbreaking scene gets more difficult with each year that passes by, the fact that Evad3rs and Pangu both dropped untethered jailbreaks for iOS 7 was nothing short of heroic. Evad3rs' Evasi0n tool took care of iOS 7.0.x, and when this was eventually plugged, the self-titled tool from the Pangu team took care of iOS 7.1.x. Now, both are up for a Pwnie award in the ‘Best Privilege Escalation Bug’ category, a gathering that highlights the work of those in the field of security research, and although we've no personal affinity to one over the other, we'd certainly love to see a jailbreak team yield such acclaim.
Given how many apps and games exist over at the iTunes App Store, locating the good ones shouldn't be too hard. But at times, it can be a little tricky, and finding the decent, paid apps gone free even more so. Here, though, we like to bring you some of the best deals on a daily basis, and here, you can get your fill once more.
As we move closer to the final release of iOS 8, the changes in the beta releases have started to get more subtle and less striking. And while today’s fifth beta release does come with changes, but they’re not as big as the previous ones.
The leaks just keep on coming, this time of the supposed iPad Air 2. With all the attention very much on the iPhone 6 at this point, it's easy to forget that we should only be a few months away from a new suite of iPads, with the iPad Air 2 possibly the most eagerly anticipated.
Free apps are brilliant. Free apps that used to be paid apps are arguably more brilliant, if that's even possible. Because of that fact we don't want you to miss out on any bargains so, without further ado, here's a handful of apps that you might want to check out before the price goes back up!
You know you've truly made it when you're the butt of the joke on something like Conan O'Brien's late night TV show, and Apple has found itself in that particular position on more than a few occasions. We're not sure the folks in Cupertino will be laughing quite so hard though.
According to reports, Apple has just rolled out its upgraded Content Delivery Network, or CDN, and to us, this equates to faster and more efficient downloads from the company's servers. With speeds into the terabits per second, it's quite a substantial bump, and although we tend to focus mainly on the products and software that Apple churns out, this is a more than welcome improvement to the back-end.
