As the hours tick down towards the big September 10th iPhone event, which will play host to the introduction of new wares from Apple, the final preparations are being put into place as the fruit company readies itself for an influx of journalists and other hangers-on.
The iPhone 5S is expected to pack a plethora of interesting features, but in a real change from tradition, it looks as though Apple has decided to introduce a gold, or champagne color configuration. Naturally, not everybody has been impressed by this decision, and the stereotypes thrown up by prospective owners of a gold smartphone are almost perfectly encompassed by a new mock ad, released after the iPhone 5S announcement parody. The short clip involves, for lack of a more apt phrase, a douchebag, who proceeds to strut around town wielding his shiny new gold iPhone. Check it out after the break!
With only a couple of days left until the announcement of the iPhone 5S, or so we presume, Apple has done a pretty good job of keeping things under wraps, with sightings of the device having been kept to a minimum. But when you're busily mass producing a product for prime time, information is bound to leak out eventually, and snaps of what would appear to be marketing material shed even more light on the device's specifications as well as aesthetics.
The Cydia Store is a cauldron of weird and wonderful tweaks, apps and themes all designed to make the iOS experience just that little bit more enjoyable. While plenty profess to enhance the software's rather lackluster functionality, others are simply there to make iOS a bit more fun to use, and VoiceChanger, a new tweak that allows you to alter your own voice when in-call, perhaps falls under this category. With a lot of well-known character voices to choose from, you can fool your friends into thinking they are conversing with a Smurf, Dark Lord, or even Rumpelstiltskin, and if that isn't your idea of a good joke, then, well.. you don't have a sense of humor!
It may be unadulterated chaos at times, but there's little doubt that iPhone announcement weeks are some of the most exciting and interesting that we face. A culmination of weeks and often months of guessing, calculating and wishing always comes down to one glorious moment when we get to see a new iPhone for the first time.
Developer Winocm has successfully managed to jailbreak iOS 6.1.4 on both CDMA and GSM version of iPhone 5. Details as usual are scarce at this very moment, it is highly recommended that you ignore any update at this point for your iOS device and wait for further confirmation on the progress being made on this untethered jailbreak for 6.1.4.
Users of iPhones come in all shapes and sizes, but when you find a proper hardcore fan of Apple's smartphone then the chances are pretty good that they're also rather keen on a spot of science fiction. We'd have to count ourselves firmly in that category, and we'd definitely argue that it's no bad thing.
We've caught precious few sightings of the iPhone 5S over the past few days, weeks and months, but today, we have our first alleged look of the device in its original packaging. As has been touched upon ad nauseam, the handset will feature a fingerprint sensor for its Home button, and from this leaked snap of the iPhone 5 in its retail box, it can be seen in place of the Home button.
The big September 10th iPhone event is just days away, and with two new iPhones expected to be announced by the Cupertino-based outfit, it's fair to say that the tech industry is rather excited. Although we're now sure to the point of near certainty that we'll be seeing a low-budget iPhone 5C as well as a flagship iPhone 5S, nothing's set in stone until the official unveiling, although China Telecom has gotten ahead of the game having already begun advertising the as-yet non-existent handsets for pre-order.
