Apple To Live Stream October 16 iPad Event, Here’s Where And How You Can Watch It

As has long since been suspected, Apple will be holding a special event next week on October 16th, and likely topics of conversation will pertain to the iPad, OS X Yosemite, iOS 8.1 and possibly a couple of new Macs as well. Should all of these products roll out at the same time, it'll be a fairly busy affair, and for those wishing to tune in, Apple will be live streaming proceedings right from Town Hall.

Apple has just rolled out a third Candidate Golden Master of OS X 10.10 Yosemite, which will presumably launch late next week when the company holds its special event at Town Hall. At this stage, Apple isn't adding any major features or changes, rather refining the software ready for the end user, so while developers can now go ahead and pick up Yosemite GM 3, there won't be any drastic alterations therein.

Apple first announced its intention to extend its iOS ecosystem to cars was first announced way back at 2013's Worldwide Developers' Conference, but it was only early this year with the release of iOS 7.1 that devices could properly support it. Many car manufacturers have signed up to include CarPlay as a standard feature, but sound and general infotainment specialist Pioneer has been one of a small number of companies to pledge aftermarket support. A short while ago, the first batch of CarPlay-ready in-car systems were launched, but given their fledgling nature, most of us have yet to see what this new Apple-integrated hardware is really made of. One early adopter, who also just so happens to be a member of a tech. repair company, has already had some extensive time with one of Pioneer's new receivers, and for the benefit of the masses, has posted a series of walkthrough clips.

Now that Apple has officially announced the existence of a dedicated media event next week, let the intense speculation begin. We've been expecting the invitations to arrive for quite some time, with the general consensus being that Tim Cook will unite his executive team once again in San Francisco to introduce the world to the future of the iPad. After all, the phablet market was / is still considered niche in spite of its growing popularity, and given how long iPhone fans had been content with a 4-inch-or-smaller display, the 5.5-inch canvas of the iPhone 6 Plus -- and the sheer size of the device's footprint as a result -- would surely prompt the users towards the standard iPhone 6. But following on from a report last week documenting reservation figures in China, which suggested that the 6 Plus was not just more popular than expected, but actually favored over the smaller variant, it has now emerged that Apple may be switching its production strategy to cope with the unforeseen interest.
