As we move closer to the speculated next-generation iPhone announcement, we are seeing additional leaked images that claim to prove the existence of the champagne / gold iPhone 5S. Over the last seven days we have been hearing murmurings about whether or not Apple will be releasing the iPhone 5S in a variety of colors, with most of the attention being lavished on the purported gold - or champagne - variant of the new device. Whether or not that will actually happen is still up in the air, but the latest leaked images to come from Japanese sources show the purported gold / champagne colored hardware sitting alongside a black and white version of the current iPhone 5.
Since the focus of mainstream attention has remained almost squarely upon the progress of Apple's iOS 7 betas, it's rather easy to forget about OS X Mavericks 10.9, which is also currently being readied for prime time. While the name may have raised one or two eyebrows after a series of big cat releases, the changes made to the Mac operating system are very much business as usual, and the sixth developer preview doesn't appear to offer anything radically different from the previous offering.
We've seen plenty of leaks of the low-cost iPhone 5C's rear shell; so much so, in fact, that it's almost as if Apple has already announced it. But while we may have seen it compared with the likes of the iPhone 5, we haven't seen how it will potentially cope with those everyday scrapes and bumps, but Taiwenese blog Apple Daily has come through with a video that shows the back cover being put to the sword. Lining up to test the resolve of the iPhone 5C's rear housing includes a collection of your day-to-day smartphone nemeses, including keys and coins. How did the soon-to-be-released handset fare against a tidal wave of objects? Find out after the break!
iPhone Users Are Younger, Wealthier and Generally Smarter Than Samsung Smartphone Users, Study Finds
Samsung and Apple are undoubtedly the two biggest names in the mobile industry, and as the companies continue to go at each other's throats in a myriad of patent disputes, it's fair to say that fans of both companies can be just as forthright in debate over which of the big two produces the best devices. In a finding that is bound to cause more than a little controversy, a study has discovered that iPhone owners tend to be younger, wealthier, and - get this - smarter than their Samsung-wielding buddies.
Apple is a company of exceptional uniformity, but with the iPad 4 currently taking quite a different shape to the iPad mini, reports of the next iteration larger device taking design design cues of the smaller slate have been plentiful. Today, new images have emerged supposedly depicting the rear housing of the fifth-gen Cupertino tablet, giving even more legitimacy to the notion that the iPad 5 will indeed be enveloped in a similar finish as the iPad mini.
As we continue to count down the days until September 10th's all-but confirmed unveiling of the new iPhone, an interesting tidbit has just surfaced courtesy of KGI Securities' resident Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Up until now, it was thought the iPhone 5S would retail alongside the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C as Apple's three options available to prospective consumers. However Kuo believes that instead, Apple could ditch the iPhone 5 completely, rather opting to keep the iPhone 4S running momentarily as the third-in-command to the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C respectively.
Much has been made of the just-released indie movie starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs, but while the blogosphere has continued to hype the Joshua Michael Stern flick, the first-weekend box office sales make for rather disappointing reading. Distributor of the Jobs movie Open Road Films projected a figure in the region of $8-9 million for its initial weekend, but Box Office Mojo estimates the number at just $6.7 million. Considering the movie's budget was around $12 million, it's certainly not bad going, but considering the stature of the man to which the film is based, one might have expected more movie goers to turn out.
The advancement of cameras within smartphones has prompted a wave of wannabe photographers, and with a seemingly endless list of apps available for said individuals to hone their new-found skills in the point-and-shoot department, mobile device owners are rather spoilt for choice. In terms of app categories, the photography section of the App Store is perhaps the most heavily loaded, and no matter what kind of snap you're trying to achieve, there's bound to be at least one hundred apps vying for your attention. But if you're hunting for something that can take burst shots like no other, then you needn't look farther than the appropriately entitled SnappyCam.
Apple today has dropped two versions of iTunes, one is the final public version of iTunes 11.0.5, and the second is iTunes 11.1 beta 2 which is a dev-only seed. Check out the full change log after the jump.
Over the course of the iPhone's existence, we've pretty much heard every single type of rumor that it's possible for people to come up with. Large screen sizes, different color variants, budget devices and the possibility of a convex home button to provide a little additional component space for a fingerprint sensor. However, today's emergence of the possibility of a champagne / gold colored iPhone 5S is definitely up there with the unexpected speculative topics. It may seem a little unlikely to some, but newly leaked images that show purported parts of the sparkling device add more fuel to the growing fire.
