Sources of MacRumors cite a tip from a developer in suggesting the next-generation iPad could be packing in Apple's new dual-core A6 processor, or a variation of that chip. The developer is said to have spotted signs of an "iPad3,6" device showing up in his app analytics - a model previously unknown. The device, which, taking into consideration the name, we'll presume to be an iPad, targets the new ARMv7s architecture used within the A6 SoC Apple has just showcased as powering the iPhone 5.
Apple's Maps app, which, in case you hadn't already heard, was released two weeks ago along with iOS 6, has quite a great deal wrong with it, and one of the key concerns of consumers is its lack of accuracy. Those accustomed to Google Maps may have been able to excuse many of Apple Maps' other flaws and imperfections, but a mapping application strewn with error and falling short on delivering pinpoint results serves as little use to man or beast.
PlayStation Mobile has just been released for Android, but as often the case with Sony, only certified devices have been able to enjoy the new app. Owners of the company's own branded smartphones and tablets - as well as some HTC One handsets - can download and begin using PlayStation Mobile, but for the tens of millions of PlayStation users and PlayStation Mobile fans not running one of those select few Android devices, a solution is at hand - providing you're rooted.
Invitations for a special iPad Mini event are expected to be handed out on the 10th of this month, with the official launch coming as soon as the 17th according to some reports, and as tends to be the case in the run-up to a new Apple product, the new snippets of information are coming through on a daily basis.
The launch of the Windows 8 operating system from Microsoft, along with all the associated devices, has always been at the back of the mind of the tech enthusiast. In the height of a summer which has seen the release of many fantastic products, October 26th has always seemed like such a long way away, but halfway through the first week of this monumentally-significant month for the software maker and tech as a whole, everything has started to become just that little bit more real.
Although there's little doubt Apple has delivered the goods on countless occasions with regards to its product ranges, it's fair to say that at times, the Apple brand / logo has carried a sizeable chunk of total sales. Brand power is certainly not infallible, but it is a real reflection on a company's marketing ability, and although Steve Jobs - one of the best sellers / marketers of Apple-branded products - unfortunately passed away an year ago, the brand of the company he left behind is as strong as ever, with an estimated value now eclipsing that of every other company in the world bar Coca-Cola.
Although the iOS 6 Apple Maps fiasco wouldn't have directly affected the Android platform or any of its users (unless, of course, they also own an iOS device), it seems every company pushing out mapping or navigation software have been dropping significant updates, making big price cuts, or both. With that in mind, it should come as little surprise to see TomTom finally deliver an app for users of Google's mobile OS, and after years of catering to the Cupertino company's ecosystem, the release certainly isn't before time.
With the world's number one social network having "languished" on 900 million+ active users for a good while now, it was only a matter of time before Mark Zuckerberg's creation passed the landmark billion, and as revealed today by an official note, that impressive feat was surpassed last month. Having only reached 100 million monthly active users in 2008, the growth has been nothing short of incredible, and although the well-documented IPO earlier this year didn't pass without hiccup, the web's newest stock market company continues to go from strength to strength.
Memes, can entertain even the fustiest, uptight of folk when utilized in the appropriate context, and the point-and-shoot community certainly seems to agree. There's been a marked rise in meme-based apps thanks to the increased popularity of 9GAG, and most of those apps allow you to add one of an assortment of meme faces to images in your camera roll.
