Apple Working On New OLED iPad Pro Models For 2024

Apple is working on developing new 11.1-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models complete with OLED displays, slated for a 2024 release. This new information has come courtesy of display analyst Ross Young, via MacRumors.

The same display analyst has previously put himself on record discussing Apple’s 2024 iPad plans. Young has previously talked about Apple’s intention to release a line of iPad Pros with an OLED panel but this is the first time that the 11.1-inch and 13-inch display sizes have been explicitly mentioned as part of those internal product plans.

It’s unlikely that Cupertino-based Apple Inc. will want to start increasing the physical size of the iPad Pro. So, with that in mind, and with the intention being to introduce larger panels, Tim Cook’s company is likely working on reducing the size of the bezels on any new iPad Pro, resulting in hardware that’s pretty much edge-to-edge OLED display.

If Young’s analysis of Apple’s plans actually materializes, then it will see Apple offering display parity with its iPad Pro models, which is something that doesn’t exist in the current market. Right now, iPad Pro purchasers must choose between a 12.9-inch mini-LED ‌iPad Pro‌ or an 11-inch iPad Pro that houses a traditional LCD panel.

Given that we are approaching the end of 2o22, some iPad fans may actually be thinking that a 2024 release seems like an eternity away. Multiple sources have suggested that Apple is working on larger OLED panels for the iPad and MacBooks, which seems to fit in nicely with this prediction. Additionally, the iPad Pro models have only refreshed two months ago, so it’s entirely plausible that we won’t see a refresh of those models until mid-2024 or beyond.

The improved and refreshed displays will definitely appeal to those looking for a top-end iPad but what about those rumored 16-inch iPads? Only time will tell if a monolithic iPad of that size will actually come to fruition.
