Apple TV 6 To Come With New Storage Options, A Kids Mode, And More [Report]

The Apple TV+ hasn’t seen any love in a little while, with the Apple TV 4K release being the last time we saw any change in terms of specifications. That’s surely going to change eventually, and when it does we might get some new stuff to play with, too.

That’s according to YouTube channel iUpdate which, in collaboration with The Verifier, reports a new Apple TV 6 is in the cards.

The report has Apple’s new set top box shipping with 64GB and 128GB storage options. Right now the Apple TV 4K offers 32GB and 64GB, although anecdotally most people for the cheaper model given the device’s high starting price.

Apple will also reportedly add a new Kids Mode, something that will be a feature of tvOS that would then allow users to configure special user accounts for children. Part of that would be an implementation fo Screen Time as well, presumably allowing users to keep tabs on how much time kids are spending watching shows. There would also likely be a way to limit usage, too.

Availability-wise, the report reckons Apple will announce the new Apple TV 6 towards the end of the year. The earliest it could come to market is likely September, when tvOS will get its next big refresh.

As ever we’d suggest taking this all with a pinch of salt, although previous reports have pointed to a new Apple TV being in the works with the Apple A12 or A13 process or involved.
