Apple Releases macOS Monterey Beta 2

You can now download macOS Monterey beta 2 for your Mac as an Apple Developer Program member. Here are the details.

Apple has released macOS Monterey beta 2 to developers a few days after it also released iOS 15 beta 2, iPadOS 15 beta 2, and watchOS beta 2 to developers.

It isn’t clear why there was a delay in making this macOS Monterey second beta available for download, but better late than never!

It’s too early right now to know for sure what has gone into this release but macOS Monterey will make for a great update when it’s released to the public later this year. Improvements will include an all-new Safari, Focus Mode, AirPlay to Mac, and more. The move of Shortcuts from the iPhone and iPad to the Mac is also most welcome.

Anyone who is already running the first macOS Monterey update will be able to download the beta 2 release via the usual System Preferences mechanism. Those who haven’t yet installed macOS Monterey will need to download the developer profile and install that before it will appear as an option.

As always, we would only suggest that you install any of the macOS Monterey updates — or any betas, for that matter — onto a device that is dedicated to testing these betas. There are always likely to be issues and there is no telling how severe they could be.

That being said, our early testing of macOS Monterey has been positive.
