Apple Mac Pro With Pro Display XDR To Be Available In December

Apple has confirmed that the updated Mac Pro as well as the new Pro Display XDR monitor will ship next month, that is December 2019. The announcement came as a footnote to today’s big 16-inch MacBook Pro announcement.

Apple first outed the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR back in June and simply said that they would be available at some point in the fall.

That left plenty of wriggle room and following assertions from Bloomberg that December would be launch month, that has now been confirmed.

Pros have been waiting for the Mac Pro for a long, long time and they’ll have to wait a few weeks longer. Hopefully they’ve been saving their money, too, with the machine starting at $5,999 for an 8-core 3.5GHz Intel Xeon processor and 32GB of RAM.

We’d expect most Mac Pros to be built-to-order, however. And Apple is yet to say how much such machines could run to. Beefing up the specs on Mac Pros is something we’ve all enjoyed over the years. We expect this refresh to be the costliest yet.

If you’re picking up a new Mac Pro you’ll probably also want to get a Pro Display XDR to hook it up to. That will go on sale next month as well, starting at $4,999. You’ll also need to spend an additional $999 if you want a stand for it as well. A cheaper $199 VESA mount is also an option, too.
