Apple Launches iPhone 11 / Pro / Pro Max Smart Battery Case With A Dedicated Camera Button

Apple has today released the new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Smart Battery Cases. They’re both available for order from the Apple online store and will set buyers back $129.

We’ve been expecting these Smart Battery Cases to arrive since images of them were found in previous iOS betas, and now they’re here.

They’re essentially the same as Smart Battery Cases for other iPhones, but with one notable exception. The new models have a dedicated button for opening the Camera app.

The case features a dedicated camera button that launches the Camera app whether the iPhone is locked or unlocked. A quick press of the button takes a photo and a longer press captures QuickTake video. It works for selfies, too.

All of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max Smart Battery cases cost $129 and are available in Black, White, and Pink Sand, though Pink Sand is not available for the iPhone 11. We’re also a bit bummed out by the fact that there’s no Midnight Green in there. You can order right now and if you do you’ll likely see your new Smart Battery Case arrive on Monday, November 25th. We’d also expect the cases to arrive in physical Apple Stores around the same time, too.

Considering how impressive the battery life is, we’re not sure how many people will really need a Smart Battery Case for a 2019 iPhone. But if you find that you do, at least there’s now an option to pick one up. And that physical camera button might be interesting to some people, too.
