This coming Wednesday, September 12th, will see the unveiling of the 2018 lineup of iPhones, and no matter how that ends up looking, it’s probably not unfair to say that the rumor mill has been in overdrive over the past couple of weeks.

That’s continuing in the lead up to the event with new leaks claiming to show the new 6.1-inch LCD iPhone in all its glory, along with a new name: iPhone Xc. More so, these appear to be prototype units, rather than being some dummy units.

The lower-end iPhone, thanks to its single camera around the back and that cheaper-to-make LCD, has been something of an enigma. While we knew that it was on the horizon we didn’t know exactly what form it would take or what it would be called.

The belief was simply that it would resemble an iPhone X but would be made out of cheaper materials, including that LCD screen and an aluminum frame instead of steel. We also knew that it would come in new colors, too, and this new collection of images would appear to confirm them.

The new images are shared by Ben Geskin via Twitter, a person who does have a reasonable track record with this kind of thing. What the images show us is a collection of iPhones in different colors, accompanied by the “iPhone Xc” tag, though there’s no such branding on the units themselves. This branding however, would make a modicum of sense given the previous iPhone 5c designation and the fact we know that the other two iPhones in the lineup will also include riffs on the iPhone X name.

We see four color options; White, Black, Rose Gold, and a new Red. Apple normally reserves a red iPhone for its PRODUCT(RED) mid-cycle iPhone refresh but that could be reserved for the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max/Plus, so again this could all make more sense than may initially appear.

The final piece of interesting news from these images is the inclusion of a dual-SIM slot. Apple had been said to include such a slot on the lower-end iPhone, although it remains unclear whether the iPhone Xc will only be available in such a configuration in specific markets.

With the big iPhone unveiling taking place on September 12th, we’ll know for sure soon enough!
