WhatsApp Is Working On Message Reactions Similar To iMessage And Other Apps

WhatsApp is testing new features that will allow people to post reactions to messages for the first time. The feature will work in a similar way to the one iMessage users already enjoy and is currently being tested.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, users will be notified that they need to update to a newer version of WhatsApp if they receive a reaction to a message but aren’t currently running the WhatsApp beta.

WhatsApp is really working on message reactions! Even if WhatsApp is an instant messaging app, this was a very unexpected move: recently we have seen a lot of new features, but it’s been a long time since we don’t see anything whole new about messaging. Today we can finally announce one of the first messaging features that’s coming on WhatsApp: reactions!

The message saying users need to update to a new version of WhatsApp confirms that at least one version of the app does support message reactions.

If those reactions are at all similar to the ones we already see in other apps, including Messages, we can expect users to be ablet o add emoji reactions to incoming messages rather than having to send a whole new reply.

There’s no telling when this feature will be made available to everyone, but the fact it’s being worked on is good news for those who enjoy using reactions in other apps.
