WhatsApp Dark Mode Now Available In Latest Android Beta

If you’ve been waiting for the WhatsApp Android app to get a dark mode all of its own, wait no more. Or, wait no more if you’re willing to take the beta under your wing.

According to WABetaInfo, the new Dark Theme is available to all beta users who are running WhatsApp version 2.20.13 or later. You’ll find the option to enable it in the Chats area of the Settings portion of the app.

Once you’re there, you have multiple different options as far as dark mode is concerned. You can either have it on all of the time, off all of the time, or just on when Android’s system-wide dark mode demands it.

Whether you’re a big fan of dark mode or not will depend on one of two things. Some people believe that dark modes make a difference to eye strain, especially at night time. If that’s you, then you’re probably going to want to use dark mode on everything that supports it.

Other people simply like the way that dark mode looks, and for the most part, we’d have to agree on that point. There are some apps that just seem to look better with a little more color involved, though. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like WhatsApp is one of those. The app’s dark mode might not be black, but it’s certainly less bright than the green and white interface we’ve all been using for years.

Now that dark mode is available for WhatsApp beta testers, it’s likely it will be available to everyone in a future update via the Google Play Store.
