Unlike Last Year, iPhone 13 Pro And 13 Pro Max Share Identical Cameras

Apple has sold different versions of its iPhones for the majority of the last few years and they’ve often differentiated themselves by more than just display size.

Normally, the iPhone with the largest screen also has the best cameras and while that was the case with last year’s iPhone 12 Pro Max, it isn’t the case with this year’s iPhone 13 Pro Max.

When Apple announced its new iPhones, it kept the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max back for the end of the show and, unusually, they both have the same impressive cameras. Both offer identical wide, telephoto, and ultra-wide camera lenses and they both support Portrait mode, Night mode, and more. They both support Apple’s new macro photography features, and the same goes for ProRaw video support.

The Pro models also support the exciting new Cinematic mode for video recording and that too in Dolby Vision HDR. As Apple puts it:

Following extensive study of cinematography and the powerful use of rack focus, Cinematic mode on iPhone records videos of people, pets, and objects with a beautiful depth effect with automatic focus changes…

What all of this means is that choosing an iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max comes down to one thing, and one thing only — assuming you ignore the price. That’s the display sizes, with the iPhone 13 Pro coming with a 6.1-inch display and the iPhone 13 Pro Max offering a whopping 6.7-inch part.

This was very much not the case last year. Then, iPhone 12 Pro didn’t have the optical image stabilization that iPhone 12 Pro Max had. This time, every single iPhone 13 model gained that feature.

So with all of that said, which iPhone are you buying this year?
