This iMac Concept Borrows All The Best Bits Of The Pro Display XDR

The iMac is getting ready for a refresh in more ways than one. Apart from the fact that its internals are overdue a new round of processors and storage options, the outside is most definitely ready for some love.

A new concept shows us what that might look like by adding a Pro Display XDR twist.

The new concept comes courtesy of Viktor Kádár and Patrik Borgatai via both Behance and YouTube.

That means that we get a ton of great renders to go along with a pretty impressive video – one that includes a great exploded view of the concept iMac coming together.

Without a doubt the biggest feature that this concept pulls from the Pro Display XDR is possibly it’s best feature in the form of that stand. Sure it costs $999, but once you get beyond that it’s easy to see what makes it so special. And this concept brings it over to the Mac.

I am a huge fan of the look of Apple’s Pro Stand, but I know that such an expensive object can’t be used in the iMac. So I made some changes that would reduce cost and fits more to the aesthetics of the machine. The stand has a twelve millimeter thickness and because I love symmetry and evenness, I dropped the five millimeter edges and I made them to twelve. This change has give the opportunity to shrink down the bezels, enlarge the air intakes, and make better sound output.

Given the price fo that stand it’s unlikely Apple will bring it to the iMac, at least this time around. We can hope, though, and surely it has to be the end game for Apple. Why wouldn’t you want this thing on an iMac?
