The Discontinued Original HomePod Is Now Selling For More Than What Apple Sold It At

Apple’s discontinued and original HomePod is now selling for around 25% more than it was when Apple sold it, especially if you head onto eBay.

As The Verge and Twitter users have noted, Apple’s HomePod is now selling for up to $375 on eBay. Apple sold the smart speaker for $329 before it was discontinued last year.

The HomePod was always a popular device among those who owned it, but sales were thought to be lackluster. In fact, so few HomePods were sold that the units seen at retail the day it was discontinued were actually manufactured at launch day multiple years prior.

However, not all HomePods are created equal and as The Verge notes, prices can vary.

Of course, some HomePods are worth more than others — a used speaker with no box might only net you $220 before eBay fees, but we’ve seen a few factory sealed non-refurbished HomePods sell for over $500. In fact, some sellers are boasting that they got Apple to replace their old HomePods with brand-new units just so they could flip them.

Apple does still sell a HomePod, but only the smaller HomePod mini. While still an impressive speaker given its size, the smaller HomePod mini doesn’t get as loud or offer the same room-filling sound as its larger sibling. It’s considerably cheaper, though, costing just $99.
