The 2024 iPad Pro Could Use An All-New OLED Tech From LG

It still isn’t clear whether Apple will announce a new iPad Pro lineup in 2023, but attentions have already started to turn to what it will do with its high-end tablets in 2024.

A new report by The Elec claims that it will not only launch new iPad Pro tablets then, but that they will also benefit from upgraded OLED displays as well.

Apple has long been said to have designs on launching OLED tablets and the iPad Pro is likely to be one of the first on the market to use LG Display’s new Gen 8 OLED technology according to the report.

That report claims that the technology is a hybrid one that combines OLED glass substrates with OLED thin-film encapsulation to make displays that are thinner than traditional OLED panels.

What’s more, that new process of manufacturing the panels means that they don’t need their own backlights which allows for the displays to be made even thinner.

The move to OLED displays could allow the 2024 iPad Pro models to be brighter and use less power than the current models, although little is known bout those tablets beyond the type of display technology that they are expected to use. We can expect them to use Apple’s latest and greatest M-series chip of course. By 2024 that could be the M3 or M4 depending on Apple’s roadmap.
