Apple today released an update to its OS X operating system which powers its desktop and notebook computers. Version 10.8.3 is now available for download via the Mac App Store for all users of Macs running OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion or later.

OS X Mountain Lion may have only been publicly available for the last five months or so, but according to statistics and analytics; it has quickly managed to claw itself to the top to become the most popular Mac operating system which Apple has ever released. Mountain Lion was released in July of 2012 with the philosophies of being a fully functional desktop operating system that took more than a little inspiration from iOS running on an iPad. The intention seemed to be to usher in the beginning of a new era that would see OS X and iOS become increasingly more converged over time.

Apple has just seeded the first beta build of OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion to developers. As is always the case with beta software from Apple, the initial build is only available to those who are enrolled on the official OS X developer program and can be downloaded directly from the Mac Dev Center immediately.

Following hot on the footsteps of the official OS X 10.8.1 release to the public via the Mac App Store today, Apple has now pushed out the first developer seed of OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion to registered developers on the Mac Dev Center. Build number 12C31a is now available to download through the official Mac Dev Center for those who are registered, a release that will see developers acting as guinea pigs for us all in order to report and iron out any bugs that may exist.

It’s been nearly three weeks since Apple deemed their latest version of OS X to be ready for a prime time release on the Mac App Store, a decision that resulted in over three million Mac owners purchasing and downloading the cutting-edge operating system within the first twenty-four hours. The early indications seem to show that users were generally happy with what Mountain Lion brought to their Mac experience, but a few users have been reporting a detrimental effect on internal MacBook batteries.

OS X Mountain Lion has been with us for long enough, and users can form their own opinions on Apple’s latest cutting edge operating system and certainly decide themselves if they feel it is an improvement over OS X Lion, or even the latest version of Snow Leopard if they refrained from upgrading to Lion. Now that Apple have released OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion to the world, there are a lot of happy campers out there who are enjoying the latest and most advanced operating system from the Cupertino based company. There is one big story in Mac software right now, and that’s OS X 10.8, Mountain Lion. Available for less then twenty dollars via the Mac App Store, the update to Mountain Lion is all geared around building on top of your current, working system. If you’re like us though, you probably like to have a nice clean install of your operating system every once in a while, but the Mac App Store doesn’t always make that the easiest thing in the world.

The last couple of days has been rammed full of Apple related goodness with more than enough news coming out of Cupertino to keep the most hardcore Apple fan content. The release of the financial figures for the third quarter of 2012 showed great progress with seriously impressive sales of the iPad and a profit of $8.8 billion raked in during the period. And today, we saw the final retail version of OS X Mountain Lion hitting the Mac App Store, and is all set to consumed by millions of Mac users out there.
