The next generation iPhone, widely presumed to carry the iPhone 5S moniker, remains almost entirely a mystery. There has been incessant talk of fingerprint sensors and other such niceties, but tangible evidence of any of the reported implementations remains at a premium. As we edge ever close to what is presumed to be a fall release, the leaks and rumors are likely to come on strong, and to kick things off, sources of 9to5Mac believe the forthcoming iPhone will include slow-motion video recording.
We are fast approaching that all-important period of time that manages to sneak up on us each and every year. Yes, we are talking about the point in the yearly calendar when the speculation surrounding the next-generation of iPhone starts to well and truly come to the surface. We've seen this year's WWDC come and go with no mention whatsoever of any new iPhone hardware, which in itself is significant as it immediately rubbished rumors relating to Apple falling back in line with the original 2007 June announcement schedule. Very little is known about the seventh-generation iPhone device - other than it will run iOS 7 of course - but a couple of images to mysteriously emerge could show the existence of the iPhone 5S with a number of notable upgrades.
WWDC begins next week, and during the course of the past three or four months, we've covered literally dozens of concepts pertaining to the biggest talking point at Apple's WWDC 2013: iOS 7. Designers have been working overtime to deliver their ideas and predictions in image and video form, but concept maker Steve King has gone a step further in creating an interactive iOS 7 concept which can be tested right now on a mockup iPhone 5S on the Web.
One annoying fact of most early hardware leaks, is that those obtaining these rare artifacts seem eagle-eyed clued-up enough to discover them in the first place, but struggle to source a respectable camera to take a decent shot before distributing images to eager tech fiends across the Web. This can certainly be said of many of the so-called iPhone 5S's internal hardware parts leaks hitherto, but today, we have come across some high quality images of which are being touted as components of the next-generation Apple smartphone.
Hitherto, we have been under the impression that Apple would be offering its next smartphone release the "5S" moniker, following the same, 'tick-tock' release cycle as demonstrated over the course of the past few generations. However, new inventory listings sourced from UK carrier / retailer Vodafone suggest the device may make the jump to "iPhone 6," which, at least in theory, would bring a stronger array of changes than the "incremental" ones we had been expecting with the iPhone 5S.
While it's pretty much a given that Apple will make some kind of announcement this year about the next-generation iPhone, it's still unknown exactly when that media conference will happen. There's strong speculation suggesting that the upcoming WWDC 2013 in San Francisco will be used once again as a software platform, effectively allowing Apple to introduce iOS 7. It seems unlikely that the Cupertino company will revert back to a June launch date for any new iPhone hardware, especially with the latest industry speculation suggesting that Sharp is set to ramp up their LCD panel production line to fulfill the required quota of iPhone 5S displays, beginning next month.
According to a leaked document from AU, the mobile division of Japanese carrier KDDI, the iPhone 5S will be available to pre-order on June 20th, with a launch shortly thereafter in July. As well as the disclosure of release dates, the telecommunications company foresees the device packing a 13-megapixel camera and iOS 7.
Rumors pertaining to the fifth-gen iPad have begun heating up over the past few weeks, and the consensus seems to be that the device will take on a similar form factor to that of the iPad mini. Today, a photo purported to illustrate the interior of the rear shell of the "iPad 5" has been released by Tactus, the same company that offered the world a glimpse into the shell of the supposed low-cost iPhone. From the image, it would appear as though the various contours and grooves tie in with earlier such leaks, and although we're reserving full judgment until we encounter some more substantial evidence, it's looking very much like we should begin bracing ourselves for a "large iPad mini." Apart from the alleged iPad 5 exterior shell, a SIM tray has also popped up which is claimed to be of the next-gen iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 5S. More details right after the jump.
Rumors of a future iPhone 5S release have been popping up on a daily basis over the last few months, with many wondering if there will be anything left to show off when Apple finally unveils the device later this year. The newest purported leak is a picture allegedly depicting the front-facing camera of the upcoming iPhone 5S, along with another unidentified part. More details and images can be found right after the break.
As if rumors of what the next iPhone will and will not feature were not already reaching silly proportions, the latest news on the street is that Apple's next flagship smartphone will feature a shiny new 12-megapixel camera and improved night time shooting.
