Sony Q Handheld Announced: An 8-Inch PS5 Streaming Mobile Gaming Device

Sony has announced Q handheld, an 8-inch mobile device that can stream PS5 games on the go.

Dubbed as “Project Q” for the time being, the device will launch later this year under a different name.

Q has been announced at Wednesday’s PlayStation Showcase and will feature ability to Remote Play games over Wi-Fi from the console.

“We will launch a dedicated device that enables you to stream any game from your PS5 console using Remote Play over Wi-Fi,” PlayStation boss Jim Ryan said during the PlayStation Showcase. “Internally known as ‘Project Q,’ it has an 8-inch HD screen and all of the buttons and features of the DualSense wireless controller.”

Sony’s Q handheld is poised to deliver an immersive gaming experience. Boasting an LCD screen capable of running games at impressive resolutions of up to 1080p and smooth frame rates of 60fps over Wi-Fi, this device promises stunning visuals. What’s more, the Q handheld will incorporate the acclaimed adaptive triggers pand haptic feedback features found in the DualSense controller of PS5.

It’s important to note that unlike Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally, the Q handheld cannot run games natively. It can only stream games from a PS5 console. Sony hasn’t even confirmed whether Q will support PlayStation cloud gaming at some point in future.

Sony has not disclosed specific details regarding the release date or pricing either, but eager gamers can anticipate the launch of this exciting new device later this year.
