Sony PS5 Getting New Accessories: HD Camera, Pulse 3D Headset, Media Remote, More

Sony took the wraps off the new PS5 yesterday and while the internet argues about whether that white wavey design looks good or not, it’s worth noting that there were some new accessories that were also announced during the same event. Or at least, we got to see them on-screen.

While the PS5 itself is of course the main event, there are other things that we’re probably going to need to buy if we want the full PS5 experience.

That’s likely to start with the new HD camera, complete with two 1080p camera lenses that will no doubt replace the camera that we’ve been using with the PS4. The camera is designed to make it easier for people to stream while playing, but we also expect that it will be part of a future PlayStation VR refresh, too.

The new Pulse 3D Wireless Headset is exactly that – a new headset with 3D audio. Sony is making a big thing about 3D audio this generation and this headset will likely be needed to take full advantage of that without having an expensive speaker setup. There are dual noise-canceling microphones for chat as well.

Like all new console launches, this one comes with a new media remote. It’s white. And nobody will buy it because the DualSense controller will do the job just fine. It has a microphone built in for voice commands, so there’s that.

Finally there’s the DualSense Charging Station which is a new way to charge up to two controllers at the same time. Sony already offers something similar for DualShock 4 controllers and this is essentially the same, but white.

We’d expect all of these accessories to go on sale at the same time as the PS5. No pricing has been shared either, but we don’t expect any of these things to be cheap.
