From a user experience point of view; for the most part, iOS generally tends to keep even the most hardcore mobile device users happy. As an operating system, iOS is purposely built to work seamlessly with the devices as it is installed upon and therefore the theory exists that it provides a much better UX. Obviously, different users have different expectations from their devices, and although iOS is a very feature rich operating system some users still do feel that certain areas are lacking in terms of function.
The pursuit of the untethered iOS 5 jailbreak has been a non stop, full on roller coaster ride which started in November, and looks set to continue for the next week or so at least. The development past has been anything but smooth, and all involved have had to overcome a series of technical hurdles just to get to the position we find ourselves in.

It's an old argument that has been doing the rounds online for as long as I can remember, and the chances are it will be doing the rounds long after we have all given up hope of declaring a real winner. The argument is, of course, about who is the king: PC, or Mac.
There is no denying the world wide popularity that the Apple iPhone has enjoyed since its initial launch in 2007. Nearly five years down the line and that popularity shows no sign of decreasing with the current iPhone 4S model being available in over 100 carriers, across more than 70 countries.
I can remember getting the original iPhone in 2007, powering it up for the first time and being blown away by the native YouTube application which came bundled into the iPhone OS, as it was known at the time. I had never been a big user of the video sharing service, but the convenience provided by having it on a device which I carried around with me all the time made me start using it a lot more.
The battle between Apple and jailbreak development teams has been going on for a number of years now, and with the recent release of an untethered jailbreak for A4 devices, and the impending release of an A5 version, it is unlikely it will end anytime soon. However, I think even the main developers and hackers would admit to being a little naive if they thought that the process wasn't getting a little more difficult with every iOS release.
So here we are, the last day of my look into the future. A look at what the big boys of the smartphone world will be doing, as well as what I think they should be doing, throughout 2012.
Just over a week ago we brought you an article which showcased the design talents of Antonio De Rosa, founder of ADR Studios. The beautiful concept design, dubbed the 'iPhone SJ' not only showcased De Rosa's talents, but also served up a beautiful design which would not look out of place in any Apple retail store. The design featured a complete, capacitive glass screen encased in a sleek; light polycarbonate body and looked the perfect blend of form and function.
The ongoing argument between Windows and OS X users as to which holds the crown is of fierce debate, with devotees from both sides quick to point out the various advantages and disadvantages of each.
