Nomad is understandably very pleased with its upcoming Base Station Pro wireless charging mat and it’s now shared a behind-the-scenes video about it, too. What makes the charging mat so interesting is its ability to wirelessly charge up to three devices simultaneously.

If that sounds familiar, there’s a good reason. Apple tried and failed to launch AirPower, a charging mat that charged three things simultaneously. There are, of course, differences and Apple’s implementation had all kinds of smarts that we may never get to play with, too.

But that isn’t to say that there are no smarts here. Nomad’s FreePower wireless charging technology allows for 18 coils to be used alongside proprietary algorithms that make sure a device can be charged no matter its position or orientation. It’s also compatible with anything that works with standard Qi chargers, too.

The box comes with a USB-C cable as well as a 30W power adapter so you have everything you need to get started. The Base Station Pro doesn’t yet have a price available, or when the product will be ready to ship. But if this sounds like something you’d like on your desk, you can register to be informed when preorders are available by visiting Nomad’s website.

We’ll be trying to get hold of one of these for review when possible, so watch this space.
