New US-Made Tesla Model 3 Cars Come With Wireless Charging And USB-C Ports For The First Time

If you’re buying a new Tesla Model 3 and it was built in the Freemont Factory facility you’re in luck. It looks like you’ll get a car with wireless charging and USB-C ports for the first time.

These are features that the Model Y, as well as Chinese-made Model 3 cars, already had, by the way.

There had been some speculation that US-made Model 3 cars would get the same features after the Model Y started to ship with them. Considering the two cars are very similar internally it made plenty of sense for some cross-pollination here. Especially considering those buying China-made cars already got wireless charging and USB-C connectivity.

Thankfully, those who want to get in on the same wireless charging capability won’t need to buy a whole new car to get it. Tesla sells the same kit that it puts into new Model 3 cars as an aftermarket option. You’re out of luck in terms of USB-C charging, but there are hubs that can be installed if that’s something you’re looking for.

The official Tesla Wireless Phone Charger will set you back $125, however. And we’re not sure that’s cheap enough to make us ditch our cables just yet.

Or, you know. Maybe this is a good reason to get yourself a shiny new Tesla Model 3?
