New iPhone 15 Pro Case Leaks Show Small But Notable Design Tweaks

Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup of devices is expected to ship to the public later this year and now a new pair of leaks appears to have confirmed that there won’t be huge changes in terms of shape and size.

That’s because these leaks show off iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max cases for the first time, and while similar to last year’s models there are some things of note.

The first thing that you’ll see is that the hole where the mute switch would normally be is now slightly smaller than would be expected, according to MacRumors.

The images show the iPhone 15 Pro case alongside an iPhone 14 Pro case, and the difference in size is large. Apple is expected to do away with the mute switch and replace it with an Apple Watch Ultra-like Action button instead.

Most noticeably, the cases accommodate the new mute button that is set to replace the long-standing mute switch above the volume buttons. Since the button does not need to be gripped from the side and slid across like a switch, it appears to require less space and can utilize a smaller cutout.

There is also a slightly larger camera area, likely to make space for improved camera hardware that will include a rumored periscope lens for the very first time.

Apple is expected to announce the new iPhones in or around September, likely alongside updated Apple Watches.
