M3 iPad Air Is Official With An Updated Magic Keyboard

All the rumors were true and Apple has today announced a new M3 iPad Air with both the 11- and 13-inch models updated with a new chip and support for a new, updated Magic Keyboard.

The new iPad Air looks identical to the previous M2 version but sports the upgraded M3 chip which Apple says will bring up to 20% faster performance.

The move to the upgraded chip also means that this iPad Air offers hardware-accelerated ray tracing, a first for the line. That should mean that games and similarly graphics-heavy apps will offer improved performance when compared to the outgoing model.

Everything else about the iPad Air appears to have remained the same, with storage capacities from 128GB to 1TB offered to buyers. The same Wi-Fi 6E and 10Gbps USB-C port features are also present, as is Touch ID, etc.

The new iPad Air starts at $599 with preorders now open. The tablet will ship on March 12. Colors include Space Gray, Blue, Purple, and Starlight.

Buyers of the new iPad Air may also want to choose the new Magic Keyboard, a $269 accessory that uses the Smart Connector to handle data and power.

This new model brings with it a larger trackpad as well as function keys that can be used to control the display’s brightness as well as the iPad’s volume. The keyboard comes in black and white options.
