Lexar’s Latest Flash Drive Features Fingerprint Reader And 256-Bit AES Encryption For Security

While we absolutely do love to get our hands on as much storage as possible, there’s little denying that USB memory sticks are perhaps the least sexy aspect of computing we can think of, and that includes the many dongles we have to deal with on a daily basis.

Lexar may have just changed all that with its latest JumpDrive, though, with the JumpDrive Fingerprint F35 series catching our eye thanks to its built-in fingerprint sensing technology.

Announced via press release, the new Lexar drives range from 32GB to 256GB in storage capacity with each Fingerprint F35 drive also offering speeds of up to 150MB/s thanks to the inclusion of USB 3.0 capabilities.

The biggest feature is that fingerprint sensor, obviously enough, with the JumpDrive Fingerprint able to lock your files away unless your authenticate.

“The F35 combines reliable and secure data storage with biometric technology to prevent unauthorized access to your files – adding an extra layer of security for your drive by using fingerprint authentication. It is ideal for business professionals and photographers who require high-privacy protection to meet their needs,” said Joel Boquiren, Director of Global Marketing.

Perfect for business use, the drive can be set up with as many as ten different fingerprints with 256-bit AES encryption keeping everything safe and sound.

The drives and encryption are compatible with both PC and Mac computers, and range from $33 to $170 depending on the storage capacity you want. They’re all available for preorder now, with the exception of the 256GB version which Lexar says will arrive in a few months’ time.
