iOS 14.5 Beta 3 Adds The ‘Items’ Tab To Find My App Ahead Of Possible AirTags Launch

Apple made iOS 14.5 beta 3 available to developers yesterday and the update has one big new addition. Those running the beta have noticed that there is a new Items tab in the Find My app.

Previously only available by entering a particular URL into Safari, the tab will allow users to keep track of devices that aren’t offered by Apple.

Those will include headphones from Beats and wireless earbuds from Belkin. But this is also likely to be the tab that will house Apple’s AirTags, too.

The AirTags rumors have been coming and going for more than a year now and it is surely only a matter of time before they are made available to the world.

Tile-like trackers, AirTags will allow users to keep tabs on wallets, bags, and other things right from within the Items area of the Find My app. This latest iOS 14.5 beta appears to have put all of the infrastructure in place for AirTags to launch.

According to leaker Jon Prosser, AirTags have been ready to launch for months now. Some have suggested that the trackers could be made available this month, although we’ve heard that many, many times in the past.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see. Apple won’t make AirTags available until iOS 14.5 is ready for public use, too.
