If there is one good thing about the slow march of time, it’s the fact that storage, generally, gets cheaper. The portable SSD is a good example of that phenomenon and it continues to fall in price. Right now you can pick up a 1TB portable SSD for less than $110. That’s pretty mind boggling to us.

The drive in question is a Silicon Power 1TB rugged affair, and it’s quite the looker as far as these things go. More importantly, it’s pretty quick with read and write speeds of 520MB/s and 420MB/s, respectively. All of that’s handled via a USB-C connection that’s USB 3.1 Gen2 compliant, too.

Buy: Silicon Power 1TB Rugged Portable External SSD from Amazon: $109.99

Superfast Read/Write speeds of up to 520 MB/s and 420 MB/s.
Includes USB Type C to C and USB Type C to A cables
Lightweight and durable aluminum shockproof design for traveling light and safely

Don’t worry too much if you don’t have a machine with a USB-C port on it, either. In the box you’ll find a pair of cables; one is a USB-C to USB-C cable and the other is a USB-C to USB-A cable to make sure everyone is catered for. That ensures that anyone with any Mac or PC can use this drive, although the port that you’re using will obviously impact how quickly the drive can function.

Silicon Power also offers a three-year warranty with this SSD, so you shouldn’t be concerned about longevity. In fact, with a pretty stellar 4.5 star rating from almost 1,700 reviews it’s pretty clear this is one drive that is going to live up to its hype. At this price it’s pretty much impossible to beat, too.
