Hello 1998: Apple Working On M1 iMac With Color Options, Mini Apple Silicon Mac Pro, More

Big news in the world of the Mac today after leaker Jon Prosser shared a new video that potentially outed new iMacs and a new Mac Pro of sorts.

Starting with the iMac, Prosser claims that Apple is working on new iMacs that come in multiple colors including Space Gray, Silver, Green, Blue, and Rose Gold.

Prosser also showed images of what the new Macs could look like and they resemble the Pro Display XDR display in their sleekness. There are no holes around the back like the cheese grater-look owners of the display will recognize, however. The leaker says that Apple hopes to be able to lean into the nostalgia of the famous iMac range that included colors like grape, tangerine, and more.

The new iMacs will presumably run new Apple silicon, as will a new Mac Pro mini of sorts. The machine is said to look like a few Mac minis stacked on top of each other, immediately reminding us of the Power Mac G4 Cube. The inclusion of Apple silicon is a given of course, but beyond that we know little of what this machine will offer.

It will presumably not offer the same expansion capabilities of the Mac Pro, making it more of a Mac mini Pro than anything else.

As for launch windows, it’s thought that we could expect to see the smaller Mac Pro next year with new iMacs potentially arriving much sooner than that. Whether a rumored March event will come too soon for that remains to be seen, however.
