Fix /var/log/apt/ missing & /var/cache/apt/archives/partial Cydia Extender Error, Here’s How

How to fix /var/log/apt/ missing and /var/cache/apt/archives/partial is missing Cydia Extender error on a jailbroken iPhone or iPad.

With Cydia Extender landing short of the savior that it was meant to be for jailbroken iOS 10 devices, we were lucky enough to be able to get our hands on a modded version of it for use with regular free Apple IDs. Of course, errors were to be expected, such as being regularly told about missing directories or packages when using Cydia Extender to install the yalu102 jailbreaking app.

If you don’t happen to be the troubleshooting type, or have just hit a brick wall in trying to resolve this missing directory issue, then thankfully we are on hand yet again with a quick step-by-step on how to fix that in no time.

Step 1: First of all, you’re going to need to have some terminal app installed on the device itself via Cydia. If you already have MTerminal installed, then great. If not, launch Cydia, search for MTerminal, and install it.

Step 2: Now, with MTerminal installed, launch it on your iPhone or iPad and proceed to enter root, by typing in “su” and hitting the enter key on the iOS keyboard. When prompted for the password, enter “alpine”.

NOTE: if you have previously changed your password from the default alpine to something more unique, then the password you need to enter is that changed one.

Step 3: With the password accepted, and with you now in a super user privilege, type in the following command and hit enter.

mkdir /var/log/apt

The mkdir command is essentially telling the system to make the relevant directory, which in this case is /var/log/apt. And of course, that’s the directory that the error message refers to, and therefore creating it removes the error.

Step 4: Now, to remove the second error, you will need to enter a new command into MTerminal:

mkdir -p var/cache/apt/archives/partial

And that, our friends, is all that needs to be done to eradicate yet two more problematic errors which appear to be occurring with the use of Cydia Extender.
