Apple has today released a new update for both the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K devices, bringing tvOS 15.1.1 to the masses.

The new update arrives just days after the latest tvOS 15.1 update that brought support for SharePlay to the Apple TV lineup.

Those looking to get the new update installed — and that should probably be all of you — can download it over-the-air right now. Open the Settings app and head to System > Software Update. to get the ball rolling. Those with automatic updates installed will see the new release arrive on their Apple TV as if by magic.

The fact that this update comes so hot on the heels of tvOS 15.1 suggests that it is more about fixing bugs than it is about adding new features. That’s further backed up by the version number — tvOS 15.1.1 is unlikely to add anything new or exciting.

Apple, unfortunately, doesn’t give us any real information about what goes into these new tvOS updates, but again, we’d suggest installing them when you can. You never do know which bugs have been squashed.

With that in mind we’d also suggest enabling the automatic update feature to remove the need to even think about these things. It works, and works well.
