You can now download iOS 14 beta 4 and iPadOS 14 beta 4 as IPSW links and OTA update. If you are a registered developer with access to an active Apple Developer account, then both of these updates are available to you now.
Things are really starting to kick into gear now as far as iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 are concerned. The ongoing global pandemic has put the release of Apple’s iPhone 12 into chaos, meaning that it’s unlikely that we will see a hardware release next month.
We still don’t know exactly when iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 will slip into production for owners of existing compatible devices but we do know that Apple is continuing to push out updates in the hope of getting the platform ready for whenever that release is greenlit.
The ongoing engineering effort by Apple is unlikely to result in any new features being added to the platform(s) and is instead an attempt by the company to keep things progressing and hurtling toward a smooth production release later this year. The improvements in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 include Apple’s new App Clips feature, enhanced privacy and security features, an improved Messages app, and a hugely improved Maps experience that includes cycling directions, electric vehicle routing, and curated Guides for specific cities.
If you already have the correct beta installation configuration profile installed to your device then you can grab the over-the-air updated of iOS 14 beta 4 and iPadOSOS 14 beta 4, right now via Settings > General > Software Update. Alternatively, if you are after the IPSW file(s) in order to perform a fresh installation to your device(s), then you can get them from developer.apple.com.
If you have previously installed an earlier pre-release seed of iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 then you will understand that they are likely prone to issues due to the fact that they are still in development. With that said, with each and every release, things should start to get smoother and a lot more reliable. Given that these are a release of beta software, make sure to provide any necessary feedback to Apple in a timely fashion in order to ensure that things are improved at a rapid rate.
