Download: iOS 12.2 Beta 5 Released For Testing

You can now download and install iOS 12.2 beta 5 IPSW links and OTA update. With immediate effect, Cupertino-based Apple Inc. has made iOS 12.2 beta 5 available to all registered developers.

The release means that all software testers – which essentially means that users who are registered with the Apple Developer Program, and are keen to ensure that iOS 12.2 is as bulletproof as it possibly can be – can now grab the latest beta for all compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch hardware.

This, of course, means that those developers can not only check out iOS 12.2 beta 5 for changes and overall improvements but can also run their own apps and software against the release to check for compatibility and smooth user experience.

Given that this is the fifth beta of iOS 12.2 to be pushed out into the development community, it can’t be long until we see Apple deem this as being ready for the public and actually take away the “beta” tag and release it to end users. When that happens, the floodgates will open and users will move away from iOS 12.x.x in favor of the company’s latest major update. And, don’t forget, we will also get our first view of iOS 13 in the coming months at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, which is just around the corner.

As for this particular release, given that it is the fifth beta in the roadmap of iOS 12.2 Apple has nothing more than improvements, fixes, and stability enhancements in store. Once the build has been investigated and pulled apart it is very unlikely that Apple’s engineers will have added any new functionality which wasn’t in place in previous iOS 12.2 betas. As for new features, iOS 12.2 contains a number of visual improvements in apps like Wallet as well as icon changes and a TV widget refresh in Control Center.

It also includes an update to bring Apple News to the Canadian market with English and French translations. For those who like recording their own voice, iOS 12.2 also includes four brand new Animoji characters and enhanced HomeKit support for new Smart TV sets which have adopted Apple’s HomeKit protocols.

This fifth beta release of iOS 12.2 is currently available for registered iOS developers to download as an IPSW link by heading to developer.apple.com. It’s also possible to go through the normal over-the-air (OTA) download process on compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices from Settings > General > Software Update keeping in mind that any devices downloading the OTA update will need to have the correct beta configuration profile installed.
