Donald Trump Says He Won’t Come Back To Twitter Despite Musk’s Buyout

Former US President Donald Trump has said that he will not be going back to Twitter even if he is allowed to, following the buyout of the social network by Elon Musk.

Musk bought Twitter this week for a cool $44 billion and some had wondered if it would herald a return to Twitter for Trump.

He was famously permanently banned from Twitter during the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6 of last year after he continued to inflame the situation. But with Musk taking over, it was wondered if that ban would be reversed.

Even if it is, Trump says he won’t be back on Twitter. He was speaking with Fox News:

The former president told Fox News Monday that he will formally join his own TRUTH Social over the next seven days, as planned.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump told Fox News. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.”

Whether that will actually be how things go down remains to be seen — it isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that Trump could change his mind, of course.
