Nintendo's Wii was a roaring success, at least for the first few years of its life. Sell-outs the world over and an ability to draw so-called non-gamers into a market that was previously dominated by hardcore fans had Nintendo's coffers overflowing. When it came time to put the Wii out to pasture and replace it with something a little more modern, the Wii U was created.
Some people just like taking things apart, but that's just half of the process. With the Wii U having succeeded the original Wii console late last month, count-ups of initials sales numbers seem indicative of a strong start in the market, but Microsoft's Xbox 360 - despite its age - still came out on top in the early period of holiday sales totals. According to resident numbers firm NPD, the 360 made the most sales during the month of November, with figures boosted on every console thanks to the multitude of Black Friday / Thanksgiving / Cyber Monday specials on offer.

October figures from the NPD group states that the Xbox 360 has been the best selling console in the U.S. for the fifth month straight, with an impressive 325,000 units sold, compared to the PlayStation 3's 250,000 and the Nintendo Wii’s 232,000. Microsoft boasts total sales of 3.5 million units to date having been the only console to sell more units each successive year.
