Nokia Points Out iPhone 5’s Monochrome Selection In Latest Lumia Ad [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·October 3, 2012
The iPhone 5 has certainly had its moment in the limelight, and with Windows Phone 8 looming, a lot of the focus is no turning towards the initial batch of devices arriving for Microsoft's upcoming platform. In order to further entice consumers away from Apple's offering and towards its upcoming Lumia range, Nokia has put out an advertisement in which it takes a shot at the same old, black and white configurations offered with the iPhone 5.

Apple Vs Samsung Patent Spat And iPhone 5 Launch Both Saw Boost In Galaxy S III Sales, Study Reveals

Ben Reid·October 3, 2012
Apple and Samsung, fierce competitors in a number of categories and markets, are primarily the vendors of the two biggest smartphones, and after the pair fought a brutal patent war in San Jose, the outcome saw sales of the Korean company's flagship Galaxy S III increase significantly. Moreover, the release of Apple's iPhone 5 - which sold in record numbers with 5 million units pushed on the first weekend alone - also saw consumers flock for the Galaxy S III, presumably having assessed the Cupertino's offering and deciding to opt for the quad-core handset.

Buying A Subsidized iPhone 5 With A Two Year Contract Can Cost More Than $1800 [Infographic]

Awais Imran·October 2, 2012
In countries like the USA, smartphones are mostly sold at a subsidized rate. On the face of it, paying $199 for a high-end smartphone may seem cheap, but since it always comes with a postpaid contract with your wireless carrier that can last up to three years, it isn’t always the case. As a matter of fact, it’s been shown over the years that buying a subsidized phone with a contract is actually more expensive in the long run compared to getting an unsubsidized, factory unlocked phone and choosing your own prepaid plan on your network of choice.

New Patent Filing Suggests Apple Working On A Wireless 30-Pin To Lightning Adapter

Paul Morris·October 2, 2012
It may not be news that will appease disgruntled iPhone 5 owners immediately, but it looks like Apple could be working hard on a solution that could potentially lay to rest the issues surrounding accessory compatibility with iOS devices that are built with the company's new Lightning port embedded within. The launch of the iPhone 5 didn't throw up any surprises in relation to the smaller dock connector port, mainly due to the fact that we had already seen multiple reports of the change but that didn't mean it was any less controversial.

Apple Responds To iPhone 5 Purple Haze Camera Problem, Says You’re Holding It Wrong

Paul Morris·October 2, 2012
The iPhone 5 has been in the public domain for over a week now, and during that period it has managed to shift over five million units, showing just how popular the device is going to be. The initial popularity doesn't detract from the fact that a number of users have been experiencing issues with the sixth-generation device, one of which is centered entirely around a purple glare appearing on images taken with the 8-megapixel rear-facing camera on the handset. In a rather surprising email response, an AppleCare customer support agent has issued a response to one disgruntled photography fan.

Apple Releases Carrier Update For Verizon iPhone 5 To Fix Wi-Fi Connectivity Bug

Paul Morris·October 1, 2012
Owners of the sixth-generation iPhone on the Verizon network in the United States can now install an update on their device that addresses an issue with the handset reverting back to using cellular data even though it is connected to a Wi-Fi network. The issue isn't something that has been affecting every iPhone on the network, but users have found, in certain circumstances, that they have been eating into their data plans, and in some cases exceeding it, when they though they were connected to Wi-Fi.

Process Is A Fully-Featured Photo-Editing App For iOS With Tons Of Effects And Photo-Editing Options

Ben Reid·October 1, 2012
Although mobile devices are renowned for their endless benefits in many fields, one category emerging with emphasis is that of photography. The end of last year saw Apple vote image-editing app Snapseed as its favorite, and a few months into 2012, Facebook purchased the rampant social image-sharing app Instagram, in hindsight, was a lot easier for Zuck and Co. than trying to compete with it.

That experience has been improved a little with the new interface of the Music app that ships with iOS 6. For those who love their iOS devices but can't bring themselves to get involved with iTunes to handle music and videos, then iOS developer Jonas Gessner may have the answer for those who are jailbroken.
