Apple has just made available iOS 7.0.4 download links for compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Apple's new iOS 7 mobile operating system seems to have gone down well so far with users, and after a couple of minor updates amending a couple of early teething issues and security holes, the Cupertino has today delivered yet another update. You can catch the full change log, as well as the download details, right after the break.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Apple does a lot of business through a lot of different sales channels. Consumers who prefer to shop from the comfort of their own home can easily purchase Apple hardware and software directly through the company's official online store. Those who prefer to interact with bricks and mortar don't usually have to stray very far to find themselves purchasing goods in one of Apple's physical retail outlets. In addition to those options, Apple also has a vast array of official resellers who are always happy to shift their goods. But if there was a competition for which physical store could shift the most iPhones then who do we think would win?
At the end of last month, Facebook announced a brand new Messenger app for iPhone and Android. The app, which was a complete overhaul from what we’re already accustomed to was not given an exact timeframe as to when it would be made available. Now though, we have official confirmation from the social network itself that the newly updated Messenger app will be available today to everyone wielding an iOS or Android device. More details and direct download links for both platforms can be found right here.
One of the main benefactors of the smartphone boom over the past few years has been the photography industry. Sure, the quality of professional photography hasn't been greatly enhanced by the emerging army of point-and-shoot fanatics, but with so many apps and peripherals now available to supplement the increasing quality of cameras found in the market's high-end handsets, essentially anybody can take, tweak and share photos of relatively high quality.
In preparation for the worldwide launch of the PlayStation 4 Sony has officially released a mobile companion app for iOS and Android devices. The multi-platform offering is Sony's way of allowing gamers to take the PlayStation experience with them wherever they are, meaning that they can always be connected to the PlayStation Network from their mobile device. The company's existing Vita handheld will obviously be a vital tool for gamers who are looking to go mobile but it seems that this official PlayStation app will hugely appeal to those who haven't invested in the PS Vita.
We've already witnessed the majority of major and well supported apps going through their iOS 7 transitional period, but the latest app improvement will be extremely well received by users of the Pebble Smartwatch. Following hot on the heels of last week's announcement regarding the future of the Pebble platform Apple has now approved version 1.3.0 of the official Pebble for iPhone and iPod touch app.
It has long since been the case that users switch from Android smartphones to iPhones in larger proportions, but more so than ever, the trend is increasing. According to a study by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, more Android users made the jump to Apple's iPhone this year than ever before, and although many of those picking up the new iPhone 5s / 5c were previously owners of an older iPhone, the Cupertino firm will surely be encouraged to see more and more consumers ditching Google's OS for its own ecosystem.
Tweetbot has certainly built up a strong reputation among Twitter users on Apple products, and with the big Tweetbot 3 release for iPhone and iPod touch just a short while ago, the app's publishers have already come through with a rather handsome update. Having apparently recooked the UI from the ground up over the previous version, one or two of Tweetbot 2's most popular features seemed to have been dragged away by the cull, but as the process of continual improvement enters the next stage, Tweetbot 3.1 sees the restoration of some of the app's most useful quirks.
Things seem to be on the upside for BitTorrent Sync. The service that allows users to synchronize files without the use of Dropbox or other cloud based storage alternatives has just announced that it has hit a milestone that must have initially seemed out of reach. It's also been announced that the BitTorrent Sync offering will be greatly improved for the end users with the addition of third-party developer access as well as extending the current mobile distribution to appeal to a greater number of iOS users.
We've seen rumors of Apple's claimed interest in launching new, larger iPhones throughout the recent months, and it's clear that those rumors aren't going to go away any time soon after Bloomberg today got in on the speculation action.
