Jony Ive’s Visions For iOS 7 Includes ‘Dramatic’ Changes To Mail And Calendar Apps, Could Force Delays

Ben Reid·May 1, 2013
It's well documented that Jony Ive has transcended within Apple in terms of responsibility since Scott Forstall, the company's former Vice President of iOS Software, was rather unceremoniously ousted following the botched release of iOS 6. As well as being the lead designer of most of company's hardware, he has also assumed major responsibility for the iOS software, and although his visionary nature has led to many high-profile alterations with iOS 7, according to reports, and it's a move which could cause big delays and leave Apple behind, reports Bloomberg.

This Brand-New Camera Sensor Could Bring 1080p, 60fps Front-Facing Camera To The Next iPhone

Ben Reid·May 1, 2013
It's fair to say that, while the rear-facing cameras of mobile devices seem to be improving vastly with each year that goes by, the front-facing snappers are used sparingly due to their vast inferiority. In fact, video calling aside, you'd have to be pretty mad to take any snaps or record any clips using your smartphone or tablet's front shooter, but a brand-new sensor from Omnivision could see this trend well and truly bucked.

How To Enable Google Now Outside US On iPhone And iPad

Ben Reid·May 1, 2013
The Google Search app for iOS received the update to cap all updates a couple of days back when it was revealed that the company had integrated its Now service to users on the Apple operating system. As is typical with initial Google releases though, the new Google Now for iPhone feature was restricted to U.S. only, but as it does so very often, the jailbreak scene has popped up with a solution for those whose Google Now functionality was restricted.

iOS 7 Will Bring Deeper Siri Integration And Maps Support To Your Car’s Dash [Report]

Ben Reid·April 30, 2013
With Siri having been the flagship feature of iOS 5 and Apple Maps, to a notably less welcoming reception, theoretically comprising the marquee feature of iOS 6, Apple has certainly laid the foundations for what's being described as aggressive in-car integration with the forthcoming iOS 7. Whilst in-car chargers, device holders and Bluetooth connectivity facilities are not uncommon accessories available to the roadworthy mobile device owner, it would appear Apple would like to tap into this market with its own solutions.

Original iPhone Will Soon Join The Ranks Of The Obsolete On June 11 [IMAGE]

Ben Reid·April 30, 2013
According to an internal Apple memo obtained by 9to5Mac, the original iPhone will soon become 'obsolete' in the eyes of the Cupertino company, with those looking for service or repairs at Apple Retail Stores or mail-in AppleCare Repair Centers unable to do so in most places. It is natural for an Apple product to become 'vintage' or 'obsolete' after five years, but there's a certain significance, dare I say poignancy attached to this particular progression, for the device is about as iconic as anything Apple has ever released.

How To Scrub / Seek Music Right From iPhone Lock Screen

Ben Reid·April 30, 2013
The music controls on the lock screen of iOS, which are brought about with a simple double tap of the home button, are very useful in allowing you to play, pause, or skip through your music library without having to go and open the Music app itself. But if you're one of those people that like to skip to certain parts of a song, you have to go through the tiresome rigmarole of unlocking, perhaps typing in a passcode, and opening up the music app before scrubbing to find that favorite part of the track.

iOS 7 Gets Detailed Ahead Of WWDC 2013 Debut, Here’s What Is Known So Far

Ben Reid·April 30, 2013
Some very interesting information pertaining to Apple's iOS 7 has emerged today, which will see reasonably thorough makeover retaining many familiar aspects whilst "flattening" much of the user interface, as reported before. Although, as 9to5Mac reports, the changes will be some of the most significant the software has seen in its lifetime, it is also reckoned that users will have little trouble adapting to the changes.
