Here’s How Researchers Can Eavesdrop On You Using A Smartphone’s Gyroscope

Oliver Haslam·August 16, 2014
Phones and tablets now routinely come with built-in gyroscopes, and our watches are well on their way to becoming sensor laden as well, so it's worth knowing what all these little sensors are capable of. That gyroscope for instance, did you know that it could also be used to steal credit card numbers?

Aatif·August 16, 2014
Have you noticed how some of the best stuff over at the iTunes App Store appears to be almost invariably paid? Not saying that good stuff doesn’t exist for free, but generally, chances are high that the well-polished, feature rich app that caught your heart will end up setting you back by a buck or two. The good thing, however, is the fact that you don’t have to always pay for the good stuff. In the App Store, apps keep going free from time to time - be it courtesy of the developers or other third parties - and should you be lucky enough to find those deals, you might end up saving a few hard-earned dollars. The even better news is, we keep hunting such apps gone free deals for you, and here are our finds for today.

Apple Lightning Cable With Reversible USB Connector Surfaces In Leaked Photos

Aatif·August 15, 2014
With the iPhone 6 launch just around the corner, leaks have definitely sped up, and we’ve had plenty of evidence for that during the last couple of months. A number of alleged parts for the upcoming iPhone models have surfaced around the Web, most of them falling in line with earlier reports regarding the iPhone 6 and iPhone Air (if that’s what they end up being called). Today, however, we have another leak that supposedly shows the new iPhone’s Lightning cable, with the highlight being a reversible USB connector.

How To Speed Test Your Local Wi-Fi Router Performance From A Phone

Uzair Ghani·August 15, 2014
There are many ways to evaluate a Wi-Fi network. You can either go for the hands-on visual approach by looking at the Wi-Fi signal bars, or just run a regular speed test and see the general performance of a network. But a regular speed test doesn’t tell the complete story as it's usually done on server side to check Internet speed, not local wireless network's speed. This is where a handy app for iPhone and Android comes in.

WSJ: Apple To Charge More For iPhone 6 With Sapphire Glass Display

Ben Reid·August 15, 2014
Amid the abundance of iPhone 6-related coverage, we've been unable to dispel the on-off rumor that the device's display will be laden in the tougher, albeit more expensive sapphire glass material. Not only would it be more robust, but also clearer, and with better scratch resistance than the current Gorilla Glass formula, would render the device much more rugged overall.

Fully Assembled iPhone 6 Logic Board Leaked, Here’s What It Looks Like [Photo]

Ben Reid·August 14, 2014
The iPhone 6 must go down as one of the most-leaked products in tech history, and since the manufacturing process commenced a short while ago, we've been able to get right into the guts of Apple's next big thing. Today, we get a look at what is claimed to be the device's logic board, and although the much-hyped A8 processor is obscured from view, the fact that it's almost fully assembled presents us with our first proper look at what will be one of smartphone's most crucial components.

How To Enable Zoom-In Feature In Instagram iPhone App Without Jailbreak

Oliver Haslam·August 14, 2014
As popular as Instagram has been since its arrival and despite its buyout by Facebook, the app and service's biggest feature is also its biggest limitation. Offering a way for people to post square, relatively low resolution photos, Instagram is never going to be home to large, high quality photographs.

Leak: High-Quality Photos Show iPhone 6 Front, Mute Switch, Power Button

Aatif·August 14, 2014
We're merely weeks away now from the much anticipated iPhone 6 (or iPhone Air, depending on what Apple ends up calling it) launch event to be held in September, if rumors are to be believed. With the official unveiling this close, it's certain that the devices have gone through all the stages of mass production and probably nearing the completion line any time soon. What this implies for the rest of the world is that a floodgate of leaks and rumors would have opened, and indeed, we saw our fair share of that over the course of last few weeks. Today, a fresh set of leaked photos has surfaced that shows close up views of the iPhone 6 front panel, the mute toggle and the power button, the former of which indicates a tapered edge design.

Ben Reid·August 14, 2014
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand has just approved two previously unheard iPhone models for sale in the country. Devices A1524 and A1286 were today given the go-ahead to retail in Thailand by the nation's version of the U.S. FCC, and although it doesn't tell us anything about the devices in question, it does lead us to believe that a 4.7- and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is imminent.
