Today is, as many of you will know, the first U.S. President George Washington’s birthday, otherwise recognized Stateside as President’s Day. To mark the occasion, Electronic Arts offering big savings on all of its iOS games, with everything running at $0.99 or less. Those usually free or priced at the minimum charge will remain at the same price, but any game priced higher than the lowest threshold will drop down to the magical $0.99.
Social networking is quickly becoming a pastime taken up by those on mobile devices. What once required a desktop computer at an internet café is now available with a swipe and a tap, and it's little surprise to see now that an ever-growing majority of Facebook's 1 billion+ user base is now logging in via a smartphone or tablet. One annoyance with the official iOS Facebook app, is the inability to copy text on the News Feed. If you have been a loyal user of Skype, you have likely run into the hurdle of reaching a user when they are offline. While sending SMS messages often does the trick, sometimes a video message is just more convenient. The good news is that Skype has begun rolling out this feature in the form of an update for its Mac, iPhone and Android client, with support for other platforms such as Windows coming very soon.
Bump, the sharing app for Android and iOS, has been updated on each platform, with the takeaway feature being the ability to 'bump' files to a computer. Yesterday, we learned that the highly anticipated car racing simulator Real Racing 3 would be arriving for iOS and Android at the end of the month. The not-so-long-ago redesign of the Gmail app for iPhone and iPad made it much, much better than perhaps any other email client out there, and owing to the elegant, exquisite and functional layout, the app became my favorite email app for almost all my electronic communication needs. Considering that I use Gmail both for my work and my writing ambitions, I would rate the current version of the iOS Gmail variant even superior to its Android counterpart, which is surprising, consider that the latter is Google’s own brainchild. Nevertheless, these things happen, and there ain’t much that you can do about them.
The iOS 6 / 6.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5 and other devices is well and truly here, and thanks to its userland nature; jailbreaking your iOS device on the aforementioned firmware is a walk in the park.
