While there are many third-party iPhone App Stores like Cydia around, the problem with them is that they all require jailbreaking of iPhone, which even though has gone 100 percent legal isn't something which every iPhone user will do. Comes in OpenAppMkt, a new web-based third-party app store for all iOS based devices which consists of apps, completely written in HTML format. OpenAppMkt runs in browser and installation of apps simply require a simple tap on: "add to home" button.
If his recent Facebook activity has to be believed, than Facebook’s founder and CEO might have just ditched his iPhone for Android. It was only last month when Mark made the headlines for switching to iPhone (it was 3GS, not iPhone 4) from BlackBerry. But the experience wasn’t all that great as he posted about his frustrations with the device, citing poor battery life, and phone calling quality. He also said that he will get the new iPhone 4 and see if that solves all his problems before switching to Android.
The Apple enthusiast 9to5 Mac site has published a complete video of first hands-on and impressions of the newly released Magic Trackpad by Apple for all desktop based Macs. For those of you who don’t know, Magic Trackpad is basically a larger desktop version of touchpads found in MacBook Pros. You can use it for swiping, pinch-to-zoom, two-finger scrolling, finger tip rotation and so on. Since the entire Trackpad acts as a single button, you can effectively use it as a replacement to your mouse.
Yesterday, a court in United States ruled jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones as 100 percent legal as long as it does not violate any copyright laws. This decision was a blow for Apple who has always been against jailbreaking of iPhones. When asked about this ruling, Apple at the moment at least has adopted defensive strategy, saying that jailbreaking may have been declared as legal but it will still void your iPhone’s warranty with Apple.
Apple today has updated their existing iMac lineup by dumping Core 2 Duo altogether and bringing Intel’s Core i3, i5 and i7, along with faster graphics card options. Available in both 21.5 and 27 inches, the prices of both the entry level base model, and the flagship model remains same as the older ones, except that these new ones have more power then ever before.
Since today is the day jailbreaking has officially gone legal in the United States, I thought it was right time to share this full two-part interview on history of jailbreaking with Jay Freeman Saurik, the guy who is creator of Cydia, Winterboard and Cyntact apps for jailbroken iPhones. In his interview with Make It Work, Saurik tells us how the entire process of jailbreaking started with George Hotz, to the now latest jailbreaking sensation - the 17-year-old guy nicknamed Comex who is working on jailbreaking the iPhone 4. Comex is also known for jailbreaking all iPhones, iPod touches and iPad with Spirit, and Flash port (dubbed Frash) for iPad.
Steve Jobs tried his best to defend iPhone 4 antenna issue in the special press conference which was held on July 15 by comparing it with some of the other popular handsets having the same problem but this apparently hasn’t gone too well with these companies. They believe that Apple in an effort to clear its own mess has dragged others in to the issue unnecessarily. And so as a result, the recent Samsung Galaxy S ad may just be the beginning of yet another anti-Apple advertising campaign.
According to recent tweets from members of iPhone Dev-Team, the all new ultrasn0w which has been written again from scratch for unlocking iPhone 4 is all set and ready. The wait now is probably for comex to package and release the new all iOS device jailbreak so that this new ultrasn0w can be released for iPhone 4.
In his recent interview with Make It Work, Jay Freeman who is more popularly known as Saurik talks about iPhone 4 jailbreak, in the process showing us a glimpse of REAL jailbroken iPhone 4. For those of you who don’t know, Saurik is the guy behind the Cydia store found on jailbroken iOS based devices. Check out his interview on video after the break.
